De acordo com o Setor de Investigações Gerais (SIG), Vanderlei Edilson de Souza, de 35 anos, mantinha uma central clandestina de internet via rádio e três torres de transmissão. A denúncia partiu da empresa Telefônica, que suspeitou de três serviços de internet instalados em um único endereço. Ainda segundo o SIG, ele distribuía o sinal para centenas moradores da cidade e cobrava em média R$ 40 por mês.
